Participate in your Sam Hughes Neighborhood
Sam Hughes Neighborhood is just east of the University of Arizona and about two and a half miles from downtown Tucson. It is bounded on the north by Speedway Blvd., on the south by Broadway Blvd., on the west by Campbell Ave., and on the east by Country Club Rd. (See map)
Sam Hughes is a great place to live, and we're lucky to be part of it. Some of the charm of Sam Hughes comes from the interesting old houses, some from the excellent grammar school, some from the lovely people who live here. The efforts of so many residents, past and current, have made Sam Hughes what it is today. Likewise, the future of the neighborhood is in the hands of those who live here now. If you'd like to be a part of our future, please take a moment to consider participating in the Sam Hughes Neighborhood Association. Support your neighborhood, it's only $20 a year. : )
There are many ways to contribute to the Neighborhood. The Sam Hughes Board is made of committees that could all use your help at some point through the year. Some, like the Home Tour Committee, are focused on a single activity, while others, like the Newsletter, work throughout the year to keep the residents informed of Neighborhood goings-on. Or perhaps you have a special project that doesn't fall under any of the current committees. Maybe something like a tree-planting project. The Association might be able to provide advice, help with mailings, or resource lists.
You can also join our Yahoo email group, which is a great way to keep in touch with neighborhood issues and events. The Board of Directors uses it to get word out to the neighborhood about their activities and we can all use it as a community bulletin board to post anything of interest related to our neighborhood. Anyone with an interest in the Sam Hughes Neighborhood is encouraged to JOIN!
