SHNA Board of Directors Minutes
March 20, 2007, Himmel Library Meeting Room
Present: Leon Bear, Janett Carbajal, Carolyn Classen, John Cwik, Doug Donahue, Kathi McLaughlin, Penny Simms, Ed Stokes, John Wilder
Absent: Adrienne Ash, Wallis Downer, Michael Guymon, John O’Dowd, Gail Schuessler, Frank Soltys.
Guests: Denice Blake/Sherry Medina-Home Tour, Sandy Tiss, Mary Profeta, Sylvia Mungaray.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Bear. Classen presented a slate of officers, which was duly accepted and approved (O'Dowd, President; Soltys, Vice President, Classen, Secretary, Bear, Treasurer), after which she presided over the balance of the meeting.
Minutes of 2/20/06 Board Meeting, acceptance of the agenda: MSP approving. Suggestion made to post unapproved minutes on the website.

Call to the Audience:
A. Home Tour Recap : A handout of Expenses/Proceeds show approximate net proceeds of $10,938.43. Donations tabled until April meeting. Suggestions for the 2009 tour were discussed.
B. Feral cat problem and Mediation Services discussed.
HUD Grant for elderly housing (Carbajal): Still nothing in writing, no contract with builder or contractor seen; City in the process of conveying. Concerns with traffic control and energy efficiency.
Committee Reports:
A. Zoning: No report: O'Dowd and Schuessler attending City Council meeting concerning neighborhood preservation zone.
B. Traffic/Security (Simms):
1. Public meetings re how transportation dollars will be spent over the next 5 years scheduled for 3/22, 3/23 and 3/27--Randolph Clubhouse, 4:30-6pm).
2. Traffic concerns at Speedway/Campbell (shut off Norris & 1st?), rumors of Plaza Hotel expansion.
3. New beneficial changes on UofA gym construction on Campbell.
C. Historic Preservation/Parks (McLaughlin): Gibbs and Vint preparing water tower expansion report for April meeting.
D. Schools: Removal of portables a continuing issue.
E. SH Cares for Seniors (Classen): Working on monthly reporting required by PCOA.
F. Newsletter/Membership/Public Relations: Spring issue of News on Hughes going to press, 169 members not yet renewed for 2007; no progress on curb house number painting.
New Business:
1. Wilder received an email from West University asking for a softball team to play against.
2. Contesting assessed real estate values deadline 4/27/07.
