The 2019 Sam Hughes Neighborhood Home Tour

The 2019 Sam Hughes and Neighborhood Tour committee would like to thank all of our participants for making the tour such a resounding, sold-out success. Those participants are the owners of the 11 homes on the tour as well as owners of the 10 other venues. But so many others are the support without which we couldn't function: 70 volunteers, advertisers, AZ DAILY STAR, and in-kind donors Rincon Market, Arte de la Vida, Fotoventures, Deadwood Framing, Bob Dobbs/Corbett Brewing Co. and, of course, our sponsor Truly Nolen.

With 1420 attendees and $39,412 in net proceeds (a 45% gain over the 2017 tour), we'll be hard put to best ourselves in the 2021 tour. Still yet, we're brimming with ideas and have 18 months to rest up. We think Mr. Hughes, for whom the neighborhood was named but never lived here, would be mighty proud.

2017 Sam Hughes Neighborhood Home Tour

The Sam Hughes Home and Neighborhood Tour was held Sunday, April 9, 2017. This popular walking tour of a midtown historic neighborhood contiguous to the University of Arizona has been conducted approximately every other year for decades.

This year's tour featured 10 residences and gardens, music and art, a lecture by Senator Steve Farley about Mid-Century Modern homes here in Tucson, new and/or interesting businesses, and other points of interest in the one square mile historic neighborhood bordered by Campbell Ave. and Country Club Road and Speedway Blvd. and Broadway Blvd.

Tickets were again just $20 with a discount for Sam Hughes Association members.  Pre-tour ticket purchase was available at Arte de la Vida at 37 N. Tucson Blvd.  Plentiful tickets were available the day of the tour in front of Rincon Market, 2513 E. 6th St.

Proceeds went to support the many varied activities and projects in the neighborhood.  This year a large portion of the proceeds went toward enhancing amenities at Himmel Park.

This long-standing tour, conducted every other spring, has proved to be immensely popular and draws from locations quite a distance away, including other states. We hope you enjoy touring the kind of neighborhood we think there is a longing for today.  For more information, call 323-7891 or 795-6095.

2013 Sam Hughes Neighborhood Home Tour

Sam Hughes Historic District encompasses one square mile bordered by Speedway/Broadway and Country Club/Campbell. This popular self-guided tour featured homes, gardens, businesses and sample-serving restaurants. Unique this year were four alternative living arrangements that displayed the diversity of this mid-town neighborhood.

SHNA members were able to purchase tickets for $10 (half price).  Just another benefit of being a paid-up SHNA member!
